Drone Piloting 101 – $599
This hands-on class will familiarize you with the basics of manually and autonomously flying a small Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) from the ground within Visual Line Of Sight (VLOS). Instructors will assist you, the Pilot In Command (PIC), with basic flight maneuvers safe takeoffs and landings.
Theories of flight will build on top of each other to progress students towards more complicated, coordinated maneuvers required to fly missions in the utility environment. Effective logging, landing zone safety, and flight planning are all reviewed and emphasized during this class.

FAA Part 107 Re-Certification – $550
Now that it has been 2 years since you passed your FAA Part 107 written exam, it’s time to test again! The Part 107 re-certification exam is required to keep your commercial drone license current.

Helicopter Pilot, UAS Pilot
As a commercial rated helicopter pilot with hundreds of hours, Sean has a vested interest in making sure new UAS pilots understand how to share the sky safely with other aircraft. This is especially important in urban areas where heliports abound. His teaching experience in the Marine Corps and Corporate IT arena ensure students get efficient and concise learning. There are not words to describe what an amazing experience this was. I came into this experience confident in my ability to fly and complete the mission at hand…but taking tests terrified me and that was the hurdle.
Seans teaching methodology and his passion for the learning environment and for the students under his instruction was incredible.
I learned charting, map reading, a greater understanding of air space and weather. Just finished up the UAS Remote Pilot Class (FAA Part 107) this weekend. Sean has a great approach to teaching and explaining the information needed to pass the test. His class helps you build your knowledge base while you gain an appreciation of the importance of the material presented. Its a lot of material in a short time period but presented in a way you can comprehend.
When I came into the class I really didn’t know anything about aviation and was able to pass the FAA test on the first try. Sean is not only an excellent instructor but he made it a fun experience as well. I highly recommend the class and PDX Drone Academy.
